Anyone Have One Of These DR Trimmer's?

I like the idea and looks of these. Would like to see a demonstration of it on some tall grass though. Seems more efficient to have a mower combined with the side mower. You wouldn't have to change mowers to do the fence vs the field.

I would doubt they sell DR returned stuff. My friend gets them for nothing. He has repaired at least one for his own use.

Cool idea, ya I wish the video showed it actually trimming something, that grass looked cut already..

That could almost be a separate thread ... or maybe it has been?

I have yet to find line (feed or replaceable whip) that will take off tough weeds like thistle, but survive a T-Post.
They have a "ring" that will keep a t-post out, but it does nothing about a rock or stub of tree stump that is shorter than the ring:

Around here, if you want quality string, shop where the scrapers and parks departments do. You might have to buy a big spool, but it will be the "good stuff".

Their push trimmer mower prices are crazy.

Their crazy prices are why I bought a Beast mower instead of theirs. Yeah, I paid a bunch, but I got a more powerful engine and wider cut than they offered at the time.

Found a never used engine powered one on CL no far away, called the guy, said it was given to him, he will take $600 for it, I said I'll be there before noon tomorrow..
7.25hp, I'll pull it with my ATV and give it a try..

I like a perfect job when trimming. When my lady friend does it, she just does such a hatchet job! You need to observe what's happening and give a little more here and not so much there. I can't see a pulled one, giving nice results. I guess it all depends how fussy you are.

Nice. Some things to check before you start:
1. Make sure the spring that keeps it from rotating back is just tight enough to keep it in the normal position
2. New string (preferably soaked in water from what I understand, that makes it more tolerant of abuse)
3. Make sure the swivel tire is fully inflated
4. Hit the post in the "impact zone", too far in and it will suck the whole mower in, too far out and it will miss part of the fence line

New small engines sometimes go through oil the first time you have them out.....keep checking the oil often.

Okay, he did say he never started it.. I'll bring oil. I run synthetic in everything so I hope it's empty actually..

I am going to have a ton of fence posts to cut around and this thing looks promising. Does anyone have one or have any input on them?

I bought the one from Titan, very similar, not impressed with it. I have 2400 feet of wooden fence to trim and the bottom board varies slightly in ground clearance. If I had a smaller tractor it might work better. Too bad you are so far away, I would let you use it.

They have a 6 month return policy, which is most likely where the used items are coming from.

I will have a board on the top and one in middle, nothing down low, I'm thinking the small ATV might work okay, will see, thank you for the offer but it would cost me more than the mower is worth in fuel for me to borrow it from you..

Picked it up this AM, no oil or fuel ever in it, brought some NON ethanol and synthetic oil with me, cranked it four times and off she went. I saved at least $400, I'll let you guys know how it works, thanks to all the input guys..

I bought a DR mower like you describe. What a POS! Both tires went flat as the tall grass wound around the axle. I replaced both tires with solid tires so this couldn’t happen again (a $125+ upgrade). The drive belt has broken twice...the first time an hour into my first use.
On a positive note..the B&S engine has been reliable. i would only give this machine 2/5 stars. Be sure to order an extra belt and be prepared to upgrade tires. Good Luck!
