I searched for and did not find any mention of home-built tree spades for CUT 3-point. I am talking about the real thing, with several hydraulic-operated "spoons" which are forced into the ground one at a time, taking a pyramidal shaped chunk of soil with tree root complete. I have need for one, thought I could build one cheaper than hiring one for a couple days, then sell it when I am done with it.
Any ideas? Anyone built one? Descriptive links?
THANKS !!!

I have the same problem. I am thinking about tree spade mounted on FEL instead on 3 point hitch because of down force. We planted several hundred of tree saplings in too close span assuming much greater mortality. Since most of the survived we need to thin the original planting and move many of the trees to new location before they get too large.

On some webpage for a commercial tree mover for sale, I saw how they had an option of supplying down-holding by adding a prop of sorts under the lift arms. I am not sure the difference in lift ability between the 3-point and loader, but will consider that. Thanks!
