So, I'm sold on getting a set of ssqa pallet forks for my new mx4700. Now here's the dilemma: my dealer is offering me a good price on a locally made set. They are 48 inch, have a headache rack though it's a step through design for a skid steer. Only problem is they are 440lbs with a 5100lb lift capacity, which is way more than I need, and I don't want to sacrifice capacity because my forks are way overbuilt. I see everythingattachments has forks with 2000lb capacity for just a little more money, but what I really would like is something with about a 3000lb capacity weighing around 300lbs. I see there are some titan forks that might work and they are cheaper too. So, anyone using the titans? Should I order them and wait for delivery, or just buy from my dealer?

What's your usage?

Business, 8 hours a day?

Home, 8 hours/year?

I went with the palletforks.com clamp on's. Have probably used them for about 8 hours last year.

Not eight hours a day every day, but moving logs to my mill, moving lumber from my mill, moving firewood to the evaporator, unloading pallets of chicken feed. I like the idea of better visibility with the ssqa and think its worth paying for. General farm use. I will use them a lot.

Go BIGGER. I have a set of forks on my M7040 that I am now convinced I could never live without. That said, I have been known to move a banded stack of fence posts (5"x8' - I think there are 50 in a stack) from one place to another and at times I can see the forks flexing. Kinda un-nerving, but I'm not going far and I keep it low to the ground - not to mention curled back as far as they will go.

You will Not regret buying a Good set of real forks... They will take all the abuse you are able to give them, nothing will bend or break... Get a bit more than you think you will need, a 100 or 200 pounds \More in materials will not be noticeable on your tractor... KennyV

I have Landpride forks, 3000 lb capacity. I love them. 48 in forks seem plenty for me. I use them more than the bucket.

Well my dealer sells land pride too, so I'll ask about them. I noticed the 3000 lb capacity ones weigh 359 for the 42" and 376 for the 48". That's right and 65 lbs less than the ones my dealer had on hand, which isn't too much, but it's 80 or 65lbs I can't lift each time. I looked at a few more threads and now am not considering the titans, looks like they are made in China. Also, for a similar Price I found some on craigslist, the guy "custom makes" them. He's using used blades, though and wants half the money up front. Mmmm... No thanks I guess.

I have the Land Pride PFL3048 forks also, well worth the money.

Just tonight, I had a safe in the back of my van ( aprox 350 lbs) that I was going to have someone help me drag out and into the house. .. Then I look over at the tractor, still strapped on the trailer, and the forks at the other side of the property.... Figured it was more work to unload tractor, drop bucket, pick up forks and scoop up the pallet out of the van. ..until I grabbed a corner of the box and said F this. Tractor and forks....5 minutes, no blown out back and if I don't use them again for 6 months, atleast they are there if I need them. FWIW, mine are CAT forks for a skidsteer and they are very stout. I could get away with a lighter duty on the tractor.

My back has never been the same after Myself and another young guy wrestled a Dimension 100 PBX out of the basement of a University. We loaded it onto the bed of an S10 pckup truck and I thought we were going to break a spring or something. The rear bumper was about 4 inches off of the ground. I don't know what it weighed but my back hurt for weeks after that.

As an older guy now, I don't think twice about going and getting the tractor to lift anything even remotely heavy.

I have a L4600 which should be similar to the MX4700 without looking it up. I have a SSQA full size forks from WildKat and they are great. I have never wished for a lighter duty set. I use them all the time.

I bought the forks for mine a week or so after I bought the tractor. Took the bucket off, put the forks on, and the bucket has never returned. It sure is a pretty orange though... too bad it'll probably never get used.

I bought mine when I bought my m7040, the forks aren't fixed so you can adjust them to slide under anything.

Well, I think I found a set that will work for me. The other Kubota dealer in the area sells construction attachments and gave me a great price on a set of 48". They have them on the lot. Im not sure if I should order the 42" to save weight or just go for the instant gratification. The 42" are 64lbs lighter.

Mine are 48 and the tips seem to stick out on most pallets. If that gives you an idea
