Well, I did some looking last night and have been educating myself as to which lights to go with for my height (12'). Since I don't have existing fixtures it seems that the linear high bay lights/fixture is what I need. After reading, the UFO style is better for heights around 15' and up. 12' height is considered low bay but the lights are still called high bay or I'm misunderstanding the nomenclature. With my ceiling height I'm thinking around 15,000 to 17,000 lumens--5000K color.

This site explained a lot: LED Linear High Bay Lights are a Great Choice for Warehouse lighting
Thinking about going with something like these: 11 watt - Orion II Series LED High Bay Linear Lights - 17,

My way of thinking. More lights, less bright are better. Easier on the eyes too when you get old it seems.

I was wrong on the number of sockets/lights that I have now. I have two rows of four and they are spaced 12'-14' apart for a total of 8 sockets. I definitely need better lighting and anything would be an improvement but I want it done right. I also want to tie in where the sockets are, definitely now re`running wire since it's already in place. I have no clue where I got a total of 16 from. As a side question, I'm assuming the linear/rectangular high bay lights use a bulb with leds inside a bulb/tubular in two or four feet lengths. I'm just curious if they were to go out or a section needs replaced. I know that's phrased wrong but on the websites I can't tell how the LED's are arranged under the shield/cover plate.

On my 30x40 pole building, LEDs were just coming into their own. I got a seven very nice 4' 3 bulb T8 fixtures with bulbs for $15 each. I supplemented them with plain ceramic fixtures with 100W equivalent screw in LED bulbs. Also put a couple LED landscape lights shining up at the (unfinished) ceiling. Added a Costco 4' LED motion light so I have light if I just pop in for a second.

I have nice light everywhere. That said, there is a lot of RF interference, and I cant use the remote to open the doors if th elights are on, and my FM radio is just a buzz. LEDs keep getting better, but RF interference still has a ways to go.

As my T8 tubes die, I replace them with 3,000 lumen LEDs.

My retrofit led lamps....32 tubes in all... produce no interference.

No interference issues with the UFO high bays in my shop.
