Another problem solved

Since the purchase of my YM2210 I have been slowly getting the problems with it fixed. The overheating problem was solved by having the radiator rebuilt (cleaned) by a professional.

The second problem was the knock it had at some speeds. I read many of the posts on this site about the "yammer hammer", but I was not comfortable with it. So, I removed the injectors and had the diesel shop recondition them. WOW, what a difference. The knock is gone and alot more power in the 2,200 rpm range.

Now if I could find a nice 3pt tiller for it at a reasonable price!

By the way, are there supposed to be any gaskets between the injector and the head. When I removed mine there was not so I put them back the same way.

No gaskets. They are machined to fit.

As for the tiller, find a gray market tractor dealer nearby. They normally have lots of tillers - probably even the original equipment model for your 2210. They generally run about $100/ft of width. I would think you would be looking for something between 4 and 5 feet in width.

As for the gaskets, I'm really surprised there aren't any. I've attached a scan of a page of my parts manual for the 1110. Parts numbered 33 and 36 are the pre-combustion chamber. Parts 35 are copper gaskets/washers, and part 37 is a fiber washer/gasket. I thought this was a pretty standard Yanmar design. I think all of the parts manuals I have show the same parts. (And I have parts manuals for YM1110, YM1301, F13, F14/F15, YM1510D, YM1702D).

I was referring to gaskets in the cork or rubber sense. Some injectors have a brass washer that seals on the outside of the head above the threads.
