Kubota 2910
I know the SUDT oil question is beaten about regularly... but my question concerns engine oil. I'm running a B2910 and its time for the regular 6 engine oil change. What is the concensus - Kubota branded oil or a substitute? And while we are at it, if a subtitute is recommended, what is the opinion concerning synthetic versus non-synthetic?

Mike…
You need to go to the “Oil, Fuel & Lubricants”, forum and look around… Not that I don’t enjoy the rants that come from your question, it is just that there are already MANY pages there on this subject…
The short answer is … You will find it Very hard to find a bad engine oil today, and yes synthetics are good… KennyV.

I have been to Doo-Dah during my career, and really enjoyed it there!

Absolutely. I have been using Delo too but Rotella or any other good quality oil is fine. Most of peoples's perceived differences are more to do with marketing than engineering. If 2 oils have the same API spec they are going to be similar.

Looking for high quality ...low ( relative) cost and easy to find...Id go 15W-40 Delo or Rotella. I myself will be changing to Rotella Syn 5W-40 for easy starting in the winters ( mine sets outside all winter)

Thanks for your posts and patience with my posting this thread on this page.

As a post mortem, I went to my "local" (20 miles) Kubota dealer Saturday morning. He only carries Kubota branded oil in 15w-40; no 10w-30. He claimed that it shouldn't be an issue for the winter... but being the doubter that I am, it looks like a purchase of Rotella or another 30 weight brand will be in my future.

I only use Valvoline racing oil.
Worked for years for engine oil.

For over forty years I've had the pleasure and fun of looking into a lot of gas and mostly diesel engines. I can truthfully say from these years that they are different!!!!!!!

I don't think it matters either. I would stick with a branded oil and change it and the filter regularly. I would not buy any expensive oil that I plan on changing every 50-100 hours. Plus most of our tractors are not used very hard so the oil isn't running at max temps all the time.

When I worked on engines it was hard to convince the owners they needed to change the oil every 4 days. Running 24/7 that's 100 hours.
