Another Month - Another New Error Code!

In west Wales it doesn't really get that cold compared to the more mountainous areas but my NH TD5.95 has been having some trouble starting the last month or so. Battery seems ok as it turns the engine but the damn thing takes some time to "fire". This is usually accompanied by the exclamation mark warning light and sometimes with an icon which looks like a gauge and the error code 14092.

The manual tells me that means "Transmission speed shorted to ground. On mechanical version only". That makes no grammatical sense whatsoever so I assume it means transmission speed sensor.

The error code only appears for a few seconds then it and the warning light go off. Once the warning stayed on while the engine was running. I switched it off and on again and it went away. It came back the next day though.

I made the mistake of searching for the error code and the manual text in DuckDuckGo which unhelpfully kicked in some AI thing which suggested I had better consult a mechanic a bit quick!

I really cannot see why cranking the engine would cause a short to ground whereas bouncing across a field does not.

Any ideas would be gratefully received. I was thinking about buying a workshop manual for the model but I suspect they are meant for agri engineers.

(I do enjoy the discussions on these forums though. Quite varied in subjects and geography!)

Be careful with relying on "Ai" analysis. It is becoming more apparent through testing documentation of the 'latest' versions, that Ai provides "false" answers in 1 out of 4 instances (25% of the time).

As far as; "Transmission speed shorted to ground. On mechanical version only". I would take that to (possibly) mean "mechanical" transmission vs. "hydrostatic" ?

My WM60 has a code on startup (which I can find nowhere), but only on cold 0c or 32F mornings. Shutting down and restarting, code goes away.

Wonder could it be caused by battery voltage dropping too much when cranking? The 'seems ok" and " time to fire' sorta infers a long cranking time because of a a slow crank speed caused by a possibly weak battery? Do a load test on it and try using a booster pack next time you start it see if the light stays out.
Different beast for sure but my Spyder would throw speed sensor errors and go into limp mode when the battery was going out. It actually tested good but I replaced it any way and haven't had a problem since.
