Tractor
JD LA145, Craftsman GT-6000
I bought a used JD LA-145 last summer, and around the end of the year, I discovered the K-46 transmission began slipping. I've been reading up on issues w/ this transmission since, and I've just gotten done changing the oil & inspecting parts. I didn't see anything visibly worn, so I'm going to try it again soon and see if it's better. Very likely I'll wind up upgrading, as I'd really like to be able to pick up a snow blower or plow, and I just can't see this tractor keeping up with that.

Thanks for the add.

Welcome to the site. Sorry to hear about the problem. There is plenty of help on here.

BTW - did you post this in the JD forum?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm going to move this thread over to our John Deere lawn and garden section.

Don't overlook the main drive belt as the cause for slipping. How is it that you know the transmission is slipping vs the drive belt slipping? In my years operating the K46, I've had many belt slipping problems and never a trans slipping problem.

I haven't posted to JD yet, but I believe I may need to -- my problem isn't any better after changing oil.
