My manual says second oil change at 300 Hrs. Am I reading this right? Seems like a long time (250 hr) from first change. Then change every 300 hrs?

I am estimating about 125 hours a year on the tractor and wonder if changing the oil once a year would be prudent. Or am I just being ****?

I called the dealer, he thinks the same. He has customers that go 100 hours and some that go 200 hours. He suggests 100 hours.

Oil is cheap!

Thats what mine says too. But, it never hurts anything to change the oil on anything more often than recommended... well, maybe hurts the pocket book.

I change my oil at least every year, typically in the fall. If I start to accumulate more hours over the summer, maybe it will get done sooner. All depends on how hard its works, time, and how much you really want to do it.

I've got an old tractor and don't have the benefit of a manual. I change oil and filter every spring as well as doing a complete lube job. I change hydraulic oil far less often.

Many manuals will also have a time frame such as one year,
100, 200, 250, 300 hours or one year or yearly.

I put about 60-75 hours per year on my tractor and change the engine oil and filter every fall (don't use it much in the winter unless we get a big snowfall).

First year owning my B2650. First winter. Should I be firing it up now an again throughout the winter, or can I leave it sit? Harm either way??

I just read through my manual yesterday and it said every 50 hours. I'll double check but when I looked at the maintenance schedule at the top it said 50 with the little symbol that described as "every". I'll have to look again I think it said further in the print to change every 50 as well. When we were putting 50 hours/week on the state tractors we were changing oil every 2 weeks. These were hard hours mowing tall orchards and vineyards at 540 PTO rpm for 10 hours/day.

I get 80 to 110 hours a year on my Kubota M6040. I change engine oil & filter every year. Oil is cheap.

The owners manual recommends - every 300 hours or annually.

Thanks for the opinions guys.

I do not work the tractor hard expect during the winter when I run at PTO speed for the blower. I doubt it will see 25 hours a year at full speed. Most of the time it runs 1500 RPM

I will change the oil and filter every fall unless I start using it more. Like many of you said, "oil is cheap".

If that was in NY they must have been running two shifts of drivers.

Owner's manual for my Kubota M7060 says oil change every 500 hours. I change it once a year which is about 140 hours.

Is really 250 hours between engine oil changes that much time?

On my Branson, the manual says 250 hours. I have about 130 hours on the oil now, it barely changed color so far. On the 50 hours maintenance the oil was still as clear as if they had it changed 5 min before. I'm planning on following the manual.

O.T. for Cornell University it was 15 years ago now. 60hr. Work week 5-5. Made good pay just for being summer help.

I did mine at 50. I plan on doing it again at 250, not 50 + 250. Then I'll see after that.

FWIW I did check my manual and after the 1st 50hr service it is at 300 hrs. This is the MT2xx manual. JPEG_20200121_185602_4579268354993984839.jpg

I like to change mine every 100 hours, because like you I thought that was way too long between them. Unlike so many who say fall, in the winter, with warming and cooling days, condensation can form on the INSIDE of the tanks, mixing moisture with the oil, so I like to change mine in the spring once it's warming up enough at night not to cause so much condensation. Had an "old timer" tractor mechanic tell me this years ago, sounded good enough for me

Changed at 50, but will do subsequent changes every 100. That works out to about once a year for me, maybe a little shorter. Owners manual shows every 200 hrs.

I have a battery tender on mine to keep it fresh, but I don't start it unless I'm going to use it. The only thing you might see if you don't use it is critters making nests in your wiring or air cleaner. That could potentially happen at any time though.
