Mj is regulated as a drug, under general welfare of citizens. Alcohol is not a regulated drug. That is difference
The general welfare clause does not give the Federal Government authority to do whatever it wants. If that were the case, there would have been no reason to adopt the tenth amendment. There is no enumerated power in the Constitution (Article 1, Section 8) giving Congress this power. And again, what is the difference between MJ and alcohol? Why did the feds need an amendment to ban one but not the other? The times have changed, the Constitution hasn't.

How does one state, or a few states, change federal law? Won稚 happen! The federal law on pot will only be changed after the majority of states legalize it. Even then it will be a long time. Stupid idea to try to enforce. Wrong battle.
That was the original reason for the US Senate. The Senators were to be elected by the State Legislatures and as such were a representative of the State Government at the National level.
The federal law can be changed any time that the US Congress wants to change it. If there is a law that we aren't going to enforce, it should be repealed it, not be left to the whims of each President.

This is why the power of the Federal Government was designed to be limited.

Just a matter of time before MJ is federally legal. Same thing happened with gay marriage. States just pushed ahead on their own. Courts caught up with them due to the swing in public opinion. In another 20 years it will become almost impossible to find someone who has not used MJ. FDA just approved a synthetic THC. - What will be curious to see is if business is able to gain control over the future of MJ as opposed to small grower control.

Smoke is smoke, unless oak on a fire. I hate it all.

Rgr, that. And anyone stupid enough to draw smoke into their lungs deserves it. If you look at it abstractly, the very act of drawing smoke of ANY kind into your lungs is absurd.

To each there own but smoking other herbs on occasion can be beneficial. My wife is an herbalist and a couple of years back gave me some mullein to smoke for this dry cough that wouldn't go away. It was gone that day.

I guess an alternative is drugs in veins, pills or snorting?
