I'd say buy the cheapest mower you can stand and then every time you get on it you can have an attitude while you're mowing!!
Or buy something easy to work on and holds it value, a soft ride and a joy to use. Here's one we traded in after a few years for a 932 (I think). Same style, just larger engine. It's easy to clean the deck and replace/sharpen blades. We don't vacuum or pick up leaves, just use high lift blades and chop them to dust. At 80-100 hours a season a homeowner can not wear one of these out.
