Have not been able to activate PTO manually nor with independent PTO operation switch. Manually, the shift level is moderately difficult to move , but when positioned, with clutch released at 1800 rpm, no PTO shaft movement. With the independent PTO operation, with the PTO switch on manual (per owner's manual) and the PTO ON/Off switch pushed to ON, , the same result, no PTO shaft movement. With the ignition off, the PTO shaft is easily turned by hand. On my other tractor, a Ford 8n, it was clutch in, lever down, clutch out, there goes the PTO. Love the RK37S , just need to mow some grass very soon. Have just 16 hours on the RK37S, loving every minute of it. Any answers will make Spring even better. Tree Farmer Dave

Hmmm... having just used mine for the first time today.... it took me a bit of experimenting...

Looking at the two configs that worked for me:

Auto throttle turned OFF, PTO switch to auto, pto lever on left on, pto button on, engine reved up to the pto mark on the rpm gauge, AND pto depth set all the way down got me a spinning pto... useless because I had a bush hog and I had to adjust the level.

Auto throttle turned Off, PTO switch to manual, pto lever on left on, pto button on, engine reved up to the pto mark on the rpm gauge, and pto depth set to proper depth got me a spinning pto with the bush hog at the right level.

I think turning off the Auto Throttle was the last step in getting it all working..

Thanks for the fast reply... With shuttle shift, I guess I don't have worry about turning auto throttle off. For some reason unexplained in the shuttle shift manual it says " Operate the PTO shift lever only after setting the PTO ON/Off switch to the OFF position". Manual didn't state what would happen if switch wasn't in the off position. Sounds like with switch on in either position, the PTO works.

What does your pto shift lever do?
Looking at the specs for the 37S it calls for electrical/hydraulic engagement which would be your on/off switch.
Many of the Korean tractors the pto will not start until the lift arms have been raised.
After it's been started raise the lift arms, if they are all the way up lower and raise them then try your switch.
I would hope that you do not have to be at full pto rpm to engage it.

Dave, I have the RK37HS cab version but I would imagine that the PTO controls are the same. There are 3 items that control the PTO. The lever by the left leg, the push button on/off switch and a manual turn switch right below the ignition switch. I missed the one below the ignition switch when I first tried using mine. I called the dealer and he told me that he gets numerous calls concerning this. Hope that all your issue is......Don

Don Your solution worked ! I thought I had tried that 3 step procedure once before, but after I read the operators manual, pages 2-22 "Operate the PTO shift lever only after setting the PTO ON/Off switch to the OFF position", I did not get the point to turn the switch back on (after setting PTO shift lever) . Anyways your way worked, which is all that counts and I don't have to look for blown fuses which the RK maintenance department thought might be the problem. Thanks again, Dave
