re: abrogator? Post driver!#%@&

should have instantly run to the bank got cash and made the deal. Unfortunately people now days have no problem backing out of deals. When my neighbor said he would sell me his disc harrow for $300 that still looked brand new I said deal and handed him cash within 30min and had it on my property 10min after that. I usually try to keep cash on hand for those good deals that wont be around in another 30minutes. I love going to a gun range and finding someone who has difficulty with a "rifle that wont shoot", ask if they need help most of the time they say no. Then get even more aggravated and threaten to sell the rifle because it is "junk", next thing you know I just happen to have a pocket full of cash and can usually make a ok deal.

 Everybody likes the color green.

You, sir, are a fine capitalist! A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

I wonder why BOB is even working when he has so much valuable stuff he could sell. I'd start with the Prevost. That would be more than BOB likely makes in ten years working.

The title of this thread is divisive, racist and should be renamed.

Geoduck,
The term "Indian Giver" refers to white europeans and later the U.S. government in general that did not keep their promises to the native Americans, and either took back or did not follow through with their promises. The term does not refer to the "Indians".

A lot of people think it refers to the native Americans. It doesn't.

In that case, being a white european, I am offended... ;)

Yep. It's best not to lump people into groups, however, that's what people do. Race, religion, country of origin, right/wrong side of the tracks, shirts and skins. It's human nature. How it's worded, and what's meant by how it's said can make all the difference. It's very hard to get the tone of what a person means on a written board like this. You can't see facial expression or hear the tone of a person's voice.

Anyhow, it's an old saying that many people use to use, and most of them meant it in a non-favorable way towards native Americans back then. Today, it's a saying that should probably go the way of the dodo bird. I doubt the OP meant anything derogatory at all.

Yeah, I doubt it too. He just used a term he grew up with. No thought about it referring to a Native American. It's us, the readers, that skew it. :)

What is human nature is to look for something to be offended by! Very similar to the human nature of always looking for what's wrong. And, if you're real good at it you can get paid well for pointing it out, whether your a comedian or an engineer.

By the time the PC police get done...not only won't we have any historical monuments left...the majority of our history will be deemed offensive...all the while the truly offensive things get a free pass...

Your explanation does not line up with NPR and Wikipedia, hardly bastions of racist opinions.

The History Behind The Phrase 'Don't Be An Indian Giver' : Code Switch : NPR
Indian giver - Wikipedia

It does not really matter what the origin of the saying is anyway, what matters is todays commonly accepted meaning is and that is racist against native Americans.

As a side note, your description of the meaning indicates it is a racist saying against white people, meaning it is racist.

You as a moderator should be sensitive of race related negativity one way or the other.
