Is there any hope of finding a used cab for a L3710? I wish I could have purchased the tractor with a cab but it was my first. It was used and a good price. Any ideas of where to find one that won't break what's left of the bank or cause a divorce?

i scoured CL for years, and finally went new --

-- cabs rarely come off tractors, and when they do, they're usually beat.

Might I ask if a new cab was worth the price and hassle of installing and how much cost was involved?

I'd suggest buying another used tractor with a cab, and then selling yours. The net cost for a sideways trade can be very reasonable. (Mine was)

It really depends on the type of cab that you desire.

Some cabs like the original mentioned earlier start off depending on models around a grand! Some find them to do the job of keeping the weather off you still need winter wear while using in the cold.

To get into a cab with some frame work and a more enclosed bottom you will start finding them around 2,500 and up depending on options and the manufactuer. The higher the price the more isulation and easier to heat but harder to remove in the summer.
These cabs would be quite comfortable to operate for extended periods in good comfort.

Then we get to factory cabs which will more then likely have more visibility then any of the others and all that I know of are air conditioned as well and start off at about 8,000.
These cabs are normally comfortable enough that you could plow snow in your slippers if parked in the right place.

Art is right - there are many cab types, from simple weather tents to hard steel & glass rooms with roll-over protection and good outward visibility. The factory cab is at the top of the list for the Lxx10.

Adding a cab to a tractor that wasn't originally built with one takes some doing. To keep the loader removable the valve moves to the cab. The ROPS is integrated on some cabs, including different frame pieces above the rear axle. The tubing and valves for heat and ac compressor, condenser etc need to be added.

Trading sideways can keep it simpler. Major attachments like loaders and cabs depreciate quicker than the rest of the tractor - sometimes a used machine with a cab is not much more than one without. At today's low interest rates, owning both machines for a while wouldn't cost much. You could end up with a top-tier cab for a low net cost - with minimal work required.

I think I will follow your advice, a newer tractor with everything I want would be easier to buy then build. Thank you! I have made an appointment with a dealer for next week, I'm looking forward to the adventure an possibilities. :)
