Hello, I've been reading this forum all day thought I'd actually post my question and see if anyone here could help me out.

I currently have an 05 Simplicity Prestige 23hp 54" motor that was bought brand new. I like the mower fine but it seems here lately it's always something going wrong. I want to mow with it not work on it every time I turn around. I have been looking at getting rid of it and either buying a John Deere x534 or a Cub Cadet GT3200, but I致e also thought about buying a new deck for the Simplicity and seeing if that fixes most of the problems. I've been reading where people like there Simplicities so I don't know if it's just mine or what. I also have a 18 year old John Deere, it runs and cuts good it's just old. That's why I was thinking about going with the JD x534. Is the quality still there with the John Deere? I just don't want to go from one headache to another. I'm hoping someone on here can help me out a little.

Thanks for your time.

Just "old" isn't much of a reason to replace a good running mower.

At 18 years of age I ran a whole bunch better than I do now:laughing: kidding aside I am not familiar with the simplicity but my brother has been running the newer JD [ not the knock off JD] and he has been happy with it. Not sure of the model of it.

No I'm going to keep the old one its reliable. I was wondering if I should put a new deck under the
Simplicity or sell it and get a JD x534 or a CC GT3200

I suggest you look at what is being said in the JD lawn and garden forum. Don't know much about the JD. But, that size is next to top of the line for JD. So, I'd expect it to be a very good machine. Wanna save some money and get something you won't have to work on? Look for a good used 400 series Deere, preferably a 455. You could spend half the money and get twice the tractor as you would for a new x534. I have a 425 that I've been using now for 16 years, 950 hours. Total cost for repairs: $75. My mower deck is still using the original belt. I just keep the fluids changed. Otherwise, start it and go to work. Runs like the day I bought it.

We like to help others spend money around here, but you generally get some good advice from most members. Many times you're better off repairing what you have if the piece of equipment does the job you expect it to and are otherwise happy with it.
