FWIW, when I was trouble shooting my auto installation, I used some audio RCA cables, and I found they worked the same as the so-called video cable that came with the camera... A EE friend confirmed that they were equivalent.

That style connector is nicknamed "RCA" or "phono" connector from way back (1940s / 1950s). They are commonly used on audio and composite video cables, and a few other uses.

Will do. Need to go back through this thread & look at the camera stuff I ignored because I have an open station. A waterproof monitor won't do much good without a camera.

For a camera, just check eBay for auto backup camera... a waterproof, high resolution CCD can be had, from China, for maybe $17... The Sony chip is a good one to look for. No shortage of cameras to decide from. When you get ready to mount it, hook it up and just try moving it around to find the best place before drilling and holes.

Was looking through Amazon yesterday. Ideally I'd like to find one that matched the 800x400 resolution of the screen, but didn't have any luck. Also pretty sketchy whether or not a given camera has the parking assist lines or not. Debating whether or not I want those. Lots around the $20ish range with free shipping though.
