I recently purchased a 782 with a hole in the motor, found a used 17 hp on craigs list.Flywheel from original motor did not fit new motor. where are the serial numbers located on the motors? and where can I find a used flywheel ?

You can find used flywheels all over the place, really. Cub Cadet is a sure place to get it, but I'm sure you could find others. As for the serial number, It is on a sticker on the flywheel shroud, no worries if no sticker is visible, the numbers are stamped into the block.
