I have the optional high lift 3PH on my 755. I'd like to put quick attach hooks on the lift arms, but I'm concerned about the way the arms angle. I made a short video to show what I mean:

YouTube - John Deere 755 high lift 3 point hitch

Here are two other short videos I saw that shows the same 3PH, and the link arms are turned inward, so that must be the way they are supposed to be:

Anyone here have this style on their -55 series? Which way do the link arms point, and do the lift arms sit up and down or tilted?

I wonder if the links will bend if I operate them pointed out rather than in. I wonder why my lift arms are angled when I hook the links up correctly. Maybe the lift arms are bent? But both of them?

I'm almost positive my 755 is set up the way you first had it , where the arms are flater. I will look in the morning for sure.

I don't think it would matter either way my 2 cents

The way you had them first in the video seems correct to me, and I can't see any problem keeping them that way.

I stand corrected my arms are actually in the second position on the video , making a quick change set-up very difficult to use. As long as there is no binding through the stroke (up and down ) I say go for it !

Do the balls change angles as the three point is operated....from top to bottom on your tractor? Or, does the "mis-alignment" angle remain the same?

Are you putting the Pat's EZ change on your tractor? If so....I believe they would compensate for the first set up you show.....but I'm not sure if they will work for the second set-up (with the exaggerated angles).

But, I'd call Pats and ask them to look at you video and give you a heads up. They are nice folks and I'm sure they would help.

I know that the angle on mine is not real true either....and I have not had any problems with using my Pat's EZ.....although I'd prefer it to be more true.

As shown in attachments, my standard style draft arms are perfectly vertical in up or down positions. The end links, because they are in a different plane, are only vertical when in the down position. It may mean nothing, but JD did change part numbers for the draft arms at one time, although that new number is now shown for both style lifts. The drawings, again not always completely accurate, do show different sets of holes between the two types. Your draft arms look to be the same as mine.

Late model 755 tractors advertised a higher lift capacity than early ones. 1005 vs 785 pounds at 24 inches behind the end links. I never knew how they did that, but perhaps there is simply a different geometry with where the lift links attach. My draft arms are 25 inches long between link centers, and the lift links attach 12 inches back from the end link centers. The JD Parts drawing for the Hi Lift seems to show two sets of draft arm holes vs my one set for different lift link mounting. Maybe you have a mismatch between your draft arms and lift links, and need that other hole position.

I measured the lift for my draft arms. They are 30.5 inches in float position, and 32.5 in non-float position. A different set of holes could provide increased lift, but then maybe my draft arms would not line up vertically.

After all that, I will just say do what ever positions the draft arms as vertical as possible with what you have.

The angle stays pretty much the same. Rather than the PEC, I decided on the one from CarterandsonsLLC.com. But I have not ordered it because of this issue.

By end links, you mean on the ends of the draft arms? I'm surprised they are in a different plane. It does look like it in your photos, though.

No, yours look like they are made of bar stock. Mine look to be forged because the edges are rounded, and they are very rough looking. They look like a blacksmith made them. :)

I don't have the tractor here today, so I can't provide measurements. I do indeed have two sets of holes for the lift links.

There is an issue that I knew I had, but looking at your photos caused me to see how it relates to the question in this thread. My left draft arm is straight. Someone or something took the bend out of it. The other has a bend, but maybe not as much as yours. If they had (more) bend, that would change the geometry, and would probably match up better with the lift links set the stock way. There is really nothing else on mine that can be out of whack, based on what I see.

The previous owner must have beat the heck out of the 3PH stuff in some way or another. Either that or he tried to fix something that wasn't broken, meaning the bend in the arms. There are other signs of abuse/stupidity and dumb mods on the tractor, but fortunately the tractor was tougher than the abuse. I've had it 8 or 9 years, and I'm just now getting around to fixing some of the niggling things he messed up.

I have been meaning to heat the left arm and put the bend back into it. I'd like to get another measurement from you. I'll grab one of your photos and put it into another post. BTW thanks for taking the time to shoot and post those photos. And thanks to the others who have replied too.

JD755, can you measure the bend for me? Either the distance from the outside yellow line to the center of the bend, and/or the offset of the end of the bar stock from the orange line running along the front section? See photo. Thanks!
