Has anyone every changed the stock tandem open center pump to maybe one from Surplus Center they list several tandem style pumps as long as the pressure and flow is the same I myself dont see why we couldnt make it work Thanks again.

If the shaft size and type shaft, spline, key-way, etc, and the bolt holes align up, it might work.

Thanks, does anyone by chance know the pressure and gpm of the stock pump i know one section is for the power steering the other for hydraulics. Can You buy rebuild kits for the factory pump and i have seen a reman pump for about 650.00. Not sure how much one from Surplus center is they start out at 100.00 or so I would like to find a reasonable factory pump. Does anyone have a factory AL24233 proofmeter for the 830 thanks again

I suppose an aftermarket pump if carefully chosen would suffice. Going higher on the GPM and to a stronger better sealed higher pressure pump won't damage anything. It's the same relief valve setting.
Deere parts list. TxJim has figured out how to post images form the parts list, I haven't yet.

I think a big problem to installing a pump from Surplus Center would be getting an adapter to attach the hyd lines to the pump. Without the aid of a service manual I'd guess the pump output to be 10 GPM.

Would be better to go back with factory pump. My tractor loses hydraulics when u push the clutch all the way down which stops the transmission oil pump my manual says there is a supply bypass valve which is a check valve or sorts that is suppose to open due to negative pressure from the tranny oil pump stopping i can see the supply bypass valve when i drain my fluid and take my shifter housing off so i took and brazing rod and bent a hook and thought it was stuck and it was but i still lose hyd pressure at full clutch so i figure my main pump is wore out due age and what not but i can start the tractor without the shifter installed and let out on the clutch and u pump and little stream out of the front of the tranny oil pump is this normal? if it is not it could be sucking air there instead of pulling the from the supply bypass valve

Have you changed hyd filter and checked/cleaned trans oil sump screen lately?????

I serviced it out completly i bought the tractor like it is the screen was pretty bad yhe filter wasnt to bad

I'll suggest you check hyd filter relief valve to see if it's stuck/plugged with debris.

if u go to jd parts go to tranny oil pump/lines and it is the far picture to the left that is the supply bypass valve it is suppose to open due to negative pressure I.E. when the tranny oil pump stops pumping. It is suppose to open from suction from the main hyd pump. when i run my tractor with the shifters tower off and the tranny oil pump starts pumping it has a little stream coming out of the front around the shaft that runs through it. I am wondering if it sucks air there so the main pump cant pull suction to open the supply by pass valve.

The Earlier tractors didnt have that supply bypass valve so I am assuming that it would be normal to lose hyd pressure when u stop the pump

Hyd filter relief valve are parts key # 24 & 27. Is your 830 a built for N. American or European sales model? Please elaborate on the supply by-pass line you referred to. Are tubes in 2nd photo what you are referring to??

Yes when i serviced out the tractor i took the 24 and 27 out and inspected them yes #4 is the tube on the earlier SN models and the far tube to the right is the one with the supply bypass valve that is the kicker off to the bottom. If i understand right the earlier tractors with # 4 would lose hyd pressure when u clutch it. My tractor was made in germany but i can see it has the supply bypass down in mine when i take the shifter tower off and drain fluid

830 built for N. American sales doesn't have option for both supply lines just the one in photo. To my knowledge both 830 models(built for N. America & built for Europe) were built in Germany

Yes the one in the photo is the line with the supply bypass valve? Does the Tranny oil pump have any seals or just open on the shaft that goes through it

/ 74 JD 830 Hyd pump retrofit #19
Trans pump has no seals.

OK could possibly have wear on the gears to suck air around them or the o rings in the picture could be bad?
