I am considering purchase of a 6000 2wd or 6000 4wd. I already have 1 4wd tractor. What would be the pros and cons of purchasing a 2wd vs. 4wd for use on a fairly level farm. What should the cost differential be. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Uses are usually necessary prior to getting informed opinions. If you are going to pull wagons only or dig ditches.....Don't mean to be mean but let us know what it is you intend to do. BobG in VA

Will use as a backup for cultipacker 1500 lbs., 7 ft Alamo cutter, box blade, disc, cutting firelanes, road maintenance. Planting wildlife fields, and discing. Probably will use 100 hrs/year. It may sound silly, but I would like to keep the cutter hooked up to one tractor at all times because it is the greatest use. When I'm at the farm alone it is hard to change implements.

Sounds like you could get by easily with 2wd. I think the last time I checked, the difference in price is about $2K or so (I'm not really sure on this). If you dont' want an FEL go with the 2 Wd. If you get the FEL, suggest go also with the 4WD. My 6000 4WD is a beast (am still having problems with Mahindra on the BH but wouldn't get rid of the tractor.....)Whatever you get load the rear tires.....Good luck!! It's a great tractor for the money. BobG in VA
