I have a 5500 and had a difficult time removing the oil filter when changing the oil. Today, the two hoses that circulate antifreeze to the oil cooler began leaking. To look at it you would think the hoses had rotted out. Anybody else had this situation. Seems like a bad design, very difficult to get the oil filter to loosen and now hose problems.

Other 00 series owners have also mentioned this problem, but the first time I changed mine the filter spun off with no problems. It has been suggested to make certain the filter gasket mating area on the cooler is clean of all paint and to ensure the gasket is well lubricated prior to installation, also, someone said it might turn off more easily if the filter/engine are at operating temperature... I will be changing mine soon, so I hope I don't have this problem also Chet

Getting the unit up to operating temp is the ticket. I had the same problem with my 6000. Once I started it and got it up to temp the filter turned right off. Just remember not to tighten it very much when you replace the filter. good luck. BobG in VA
