5303 rockshaft problems

I have a JD 5303 w/512 front end. My rockshaft will not lower no matter what I do. This is the second time this has happened. The first it was under warranty and I did not pay attention to what was done to fix the problem but from what I understand there is a valve that sticks and has to be cleaned.
My question is, is this something I could do my self? Is this valve the same one that is under the seat that locks the shaft?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

Yeah, it's the ROD (Rate of Drop) valve under the seat that gets clogged up. Fairly easy to R&R it. You can log in to JDParts.com and/or get a service manual to help out.

Red, if I remember right, it's the main 3pt hitch control valve located under the rockshaft housing. Pretty big job for home.
