Hi

In a couple weeks I will be ordering a 5115M. I am confident on almost all the options that I want to include. One thing that I am not sure on is the tires. The tires that are in the base price are, 18.4R30 In. 143A8 R1 Radial, 12.4R24 In. 122A8 R1 Radial. The tires I see as an option would be, 420/85R34 142A8 R1W Radial (Michelin),13.6R24 In. 125A8 R1W Radial (Michelin).
I am trying to work out if there are any advantages to getting the optional tires. The tractor will be used for general purpose on our farm. Mowing ditches, water ways, general loader work, snow blower. I do plan on using chains in the winter if needed and if the larger tires are to close to the fenders that would be a problem. It is around a $2000 option also. I was not even considering the larger tires until after I drove a T5115 which has larger tires. That was the only thing I liked better than the JD and now I'm not sure if the base priced tires will be fine.

Anyone have any suggestions on the tires?
Thank you!

The base tires are Good Years, they are known to be Good for a Year. When I order tractors I try not to get Good Year tires due to poor wear and other issues. If you have the money buy the Michelins.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I am leaning toward the larger tires but am concerned that chains will not fit. I have found a few pictures of machines set up with them and it looks like there is not much room between the tire and fender. Here is a link to a post with pictures of the Michelins set for the widest stance like I plan on doing. Anyone that is using a machine similar for snow removal use chains? Maybe I wont even need the chains? Anyone have a machine with this tire combination that they can let me know how much room there is between the tire and fender?

Thanks again.

Hi
I talked to my sales guy today and he said about the same thing about the Michelin tires. Still wondering if chains will be needed and if they will fit.

If you have lots of road travel, its a good choice to get the Michelins as well. All around better tire.
