$275..................ya right!!!

I know we pay for the green. But nearly 3 Benjamins for this is a joke. Does anybody make a AM one that works with the regular brush guard?

I think I will fab one up for my 4120. Does anybody have some close up pics of the JD delux guard they could post?

Hop to it. Make one and go into the aftermarket business. Would one size fit all customers, or would you need to custom fit for all the different models? And would you make them one at a time on orders taken or have a supply waiting to fill orders? Would you buy steel ahead and be all set to cut/weld/fabricate upon demand to fill the order or wait to invest in the steel and weld rod when you had the cash in hand.

I'd be interested in what you would sell it for (even without the green paint :) ).

I'm teasing a bit, but seriously don't see where the $275 is so far off what I would charge if I were in business (meaning to make money and not be a charity for those who can't make one).
:D

I agree the price for this attachment is pretty high. BUT WORSE is that it doesn't do a very good job of protecting the grill / radiator. I believe the 4x20's and 3x20's are the same guards.

My used tractor (3320) came with the "heavy duty" brush guard.....but note the gaping hole which could prove fatal in brush. I added a metal plate to complete the job as shown in the pics below (which I think Deere should provide).

If I were buying new....I would get the light duty guard....and modify it to protect my grill. Its expensive to lance your grille. Pay now.....or pay later. ;)

Oh....and I wouldnt be too quick to count your profits from the AM guard biz. I offered the plate shown for about $30.....and didn't have a single taker. Guess I'm the only one sees a problem here. (grin)

As far as I can tell, the delux guard is nothing more than some expanded metal in a frame and side wings added to the standard guard. I already have the standard guard.

I have one on my 3720. Truth be told I don't know how much it was back when I bought it, but it's getting pretty bashed.

Yes you can poke in under it. My grille is bent in from a stick. I could probably make it better, but then again I could just put a big cow catcher on the front and not worry about anything ever hitting. Then I could put a high backstop on the bucket to make sure nothing falls off and onto my hood.

Seriously though, it fits, looks good, is well built, AND it gets out of the way simply and easily without tools to lift the hood...

You are correct....and I believe that you can add the guard with a few bolts and a few minutes time. The deluxe (HD) guard is none too stout IMO. I worry that one could easily pierce or otherwise tear the expanded metal (or welds) with a stout branch.

Here's why you should worry too......;) My old 790 BEFORE I improved the guard. You have been warned! And, note the "improved" version in the last pic. Who sez I cannot lern? ;)

OH....and notice how vulnerable those hydraulic lines are in the pics above? Newer models are slightly better protected....but improvements can be made for a few bucks and some time. It's not so much a cost factor as it is being down when you need the tractor. It really ruins your day when you break a hose or line on a Saturday afternoon. Dont ask me how I know. :(

Maybe I'm missing somthing here, but if I had the talent to build a deluxe guard...how much would that cost me in materials and time. Under $300 seems worth not having to do it myself.
