Ok, I guess my question is mainly directed to the dealers on this forum, but of course everyone please chime in with your experience. I picked up all of the filters needed for the initial 50 hr service from my dealer this morning.I always purchase factory filters mainly for the sake of the warranty because I dont want any bs down the road if I have a problem and didnt use factory parts. In my past experience, if anyone is going to get screwed on a warranty it WILL be me.The gentleman at the part's counter then asked why I wasnt purchasing all of the Mahindra oil needed.I told him I had already purchased aftermarket oil that met Mahindra's specs as written in the manual. He informed me that I had to use Mahindra oil to fulfill the warranty requirements. He said mahindra adds a certain chemical compound to their oil and if I had a warranty claim the oil analysis of course would show that their oil was not used..No where in the manual can I find a written statement regarding this....My initial response is to call Bull S*%# but ....I thought I would get a few more opinions..before I supposedly void/make claims harder on my warranty....Oh..and fyi the screw on single fuel filter was a Bosch,#1457434314 in case anyone else can save a buck or two through an aftermarket source on your next filter change.
Thanks and best regards...
Sean

I guess I'm ---- out of luck. My dealer has been selling me Rottela engine oil and when I changed my tranny and differential oils They had no Mahindra oils. I belive you were fed a line. On cars and trucks by law all that is requiered is that you use recomended fluids and filters and keep records and receipts. I would certainly think that it is the same with tractors. I'm sure a dealer will chime in that can give you the real poop on this, no pun intended.

The factory filters are a good idea, I agree with you for warranty purposes. But I have never heard of having to use manufacturers engine oil. On my Toyota Tundra, Toyota insists that you use their brake fluid, they claim to have an additive in it.

Does Mahindra even have their own spec? The manuals I have seen always listed a few aftermarket bands of trans/hydraulic fluid.

Go back and ask him if he ever heard of Magnusson Moss Warranty act.. It clearly states that if a manufacturer states only their oils can be used, then they must supply the oil FREE!!
Any motorized equipment is covered by the act.

Last time I went to the Mahindra Dealer he had tons off Mahindra products, oil, tranny fluids, they were everywhere. This is a new thing up this way as they say.

Mahindra certainly has tractor oil with their name on it.

Magnuson Moss act I believe applies here. Aftermarket parts will not void the warranty on a vehicle unless it can be proven that the aftermarket part caused the failure. They put specifications in the manual for what oils will work. As long as you use those specifications or better, you are safe. If they can prove that you used an inferior oil, then they are off of the hook. Pretty straight forward on this one. Dump in whatever generic oil you want. As long as it meets the standards that they have set....enjoy your tractor. :)

Absolutely wrong. I'd go right to the owner of that dealership and tell him the games his parts department is playing. I think it is a great idea to use Mahindra filters and a good idea to use their fluid, but to say it has an invisible tracer chemical and is better than Delo 400 or Rotella is ludicrous. More likely the parts guy gets a bonus for every 100 gallons he sells....
