been having some starting issues lately, cranks over, won't start. have a feeling it may be the thermistor. if i pull and replace a relay, rear pto relay, not the fuel solenoid one tho, it will then start w/o a problem. this could be coincidence that this helps, but am investigating it. i couldn't remember which one was the fuel relay, so i just happened to pull one, try to start, and it worked, and keeps working, so i haven't tried this technique w/ different relays yet.

i don't see any part #'s in the OM and tech manual for the relays or thermistor, and i can't seem to find them on jdparts either. found the thermistor # thru a search, but still no luck on the relays. are they deere specific or a generic part that can be found at the auto parts store? i would like to get some spare relays in case i need them, but not sure what to get.

thanks,
Dave

Are there any spare relays in your fuse/relay panel?

thanks for the #.

nope, no spare relays or fuses. now i need to trouble shoot why it won't start until i pull and replace a relay....and if it will work when done w/ ANY relay, or just that one.

i do believe the tech manual tells how to check the relays, so i can try that before i get new ones....but wouldn't be bad to have a spare or 3.

I'm of the impression that all these relays are the same. Might that be true?
They all have the same schematic symbol and just seem to be plugged in a different socket to do a different task.
Curious here. :)

i didn't study them too closely yet, but i'd think that they are all the same. what i am wondering is if they are the same as used in cars, or if they are JD specific.

Just went and pulled one for you defed. They're standard automotive SPDT 30/40A relays. Your truck (if you have one) may have a spare in its fuse box.
