I finally got around to doing my 50 hr service on my L3540. I did the oil first.... All went fine. As I'm going to do the transmission fluid change I notice the manual says 3 drain plugs. I found the two towards the back of the tractor but it also shows that there's also one about midway between the rear tires and the front tires. I found where I'm thinking is but I had a 3rd function valve added and there's a hose going from where it looks like the drain plug should be to the 3 rd function valve next to the right hand door. Iv added a pic to show what's there. I'm wondering do I undo this hose and drain it? Or should I just drain the two rear ones?
There was a orange peice of metal protecting the hose and fit fittings.

Just looking at the plate it looks like it is missing half the retaining bolts. Is it? Or am I hallucinating?

Yes I removed 4 bolts that were holding up a "V" shape metal guard protecting this area.

I've got a B3030 and it has 3 drain plugs. I drained all 3 at my 50-hour maintenance interval. Next time, I just draining the center one. The fluid from the 2 side plugs was probably less than a pint each. The more you loosen the more you can strip. My advice would be, if one plug gets most of the fluid, just drain one.

I did get a giid amout from the two side plugs. I just git off the phone with the dealer and he confirmed the center plug is no longer a plug. When they added the 3rd function valve they put a hose connection from the plug yo the valve. He said to just drain from the two rear plugs.

I would think you would get quite a bit to drain from the center plug where they hooked the line to as that was the main drain plug before they did that.

Funny they didn't install a T there so you could still have a drain plug there?

I would pull the hose/adapter and get it all out. You want to change the oil, right? Not just some of it. How much did you get out? If you got 90% out, then fine. If not, I would go the one little extra step and do the job right. Not sure if your capacity is same as my L3940HST, but my drain and refill was 9 gallons 3 quarts. Philip.
