3038e PTO Brake

At work we have 2 100hp New Holland tractors with electric/hydraulic PTO. After attaching the pull type mowers to the draw bars We shut the tractors off so the PTO shafts spin freely for hooking up the drive shafts. Don't know if John Deere PTO works the same or not.

The JD system has an internal brake shoe that effectively locks the PTO shaft when the PTO is deenergized. Even if you shut the tractor off the PTO drive mechanism is held tight by the internal brake.

That's why I made the special wrench so I can turn it by hand. Works great now!!!

I think you'll be disappointed if you're expecting to add-on the JD factory cab "down the road"..

Pretty sure if you want the "real Deal" you'll have to get it when you order the machine or buy a used machine that has the cab option from Deere.

You can always add on a cab from another manufacturer - just not a Deere cab.

Your right. For a JD cab it has to be on the tractor when you order it. I found out by talking to the dealer today. Reason being JD changes the location of fenders and changes the chassis is what I was told. He did say I could probably find an after market one that would fit. So I'm back at looking at the 3038e due to price. It will be a little longer than I'd hoped. The wife told me to buy my cousin's used Ford 861 I was borrowing already. Thanks for the heads up though. I'm going to continue reading and waiting.
