how about forgetting that your truck is behind you and you back in it, no big deal just a broke tail light

Did that too Murhp and that was with my uncle riding on the backhoe seat, the lower door section landed on his head, or rather, he held it up there for a while as i tried to pull it off him... That hit must have been the last time, that's when I installed a new 8 foot door track, problem solved:laughing:

Loaded the front wheel, with axle still attached into the loader bucket then drove back to the barn in reverse with the bucket on the ground steering with the brakes.

I can't count the times I've raised the MMM with the discharge chute (back when they were all steel instead of plastic) up, bending my floor boards. I know someone will ask...I wasn't mowing with the chute up, when parked in the garage, I would raise it to give me more walking room. But when I would start up and drive out, I'd raise the MMM and crunch the floor boards. I'd have to get the hammer and some other tools to straighten it back out.

Ditto here... I probably haven't learned yet after two hits :banghead:

Our temporary "tent-garage" had a couple of bungees snapped from driving in with the ROPS up, and I caught one of the tent poles with the bucket corner as I was backing out.

We built our garage with a 10' H x 16' W roll up door to hopefully avoid furture door collisions.

Oh well if we are going there.. my turn. I no longer have the tent/pole structures.. but back when I did.. i was parking my ford 5000 and 10' mower. the tent poles were spaced about 10' 6" on center. meaning I had about 2" on either side to pull in. I absentmindly pulled in one day and creased/bent the pole so bad that it was weak when straight and had to sink a tpost alongside it using 3 radiator band clamps to shore it up.

sadly.. by the time i got rid of that tarp garage. all 4 of the poles on the 2 drive in sides ( but not the 2 middle ones! ) had t-post braces on them. :)

My turn. Unhooked my snowplow for the first time and backed out without uncoupling the brand new hydraulic hoses to the third function. Just the other day I backed onto my jug of bar oil and made it a three quart jug. I’ve conveniently forgotten everything else but I could check with my wife.

You guys have all just made my day. My favorite is to leave the parking brake on.

Was backing out of a highly wooded area on a compound slope that the tractor did not like and I was watching the wheels closely for lifting. When all of a sudden I saw a brief, very quick movement out of the corner of my right eye and my right hand on the steering wheel was hit by a tall, strong, sapling that apparently had been caught by the ROBB and bent nearly to the ground. After the ROBB released all that energy, the sapling decided to bloody up my right hand. I decided not to look until the blood started soaking through the leather glove. Ended my tractor days for two weeks...

Oh, and 1 Toyota right-front marker light :ashamed:

Set my 3pt sprayer tank on the ground and undo the pins. Drive away with the PTO-driven pump still attached. Yanked the hoses off.

UH...er...I mean I heard about somebody doing that. Yeah.

X2 on the parking brake...

I occasionally forget to lift the 3-point with the ballast box on, leaving parallel linear furrows in the driveway or lawn, better than with the boxblade though, except that stalls the tractor, whereas, especially on grass, the ballast box is so quiet, I can get quite a dig on before noticing that it's still down.

It's funny too, because I almost always remember to sit for a few seconds and do a visual check all around to make sure all the controls etc., are in the correct position, and no animals or passersby are in harm's way, but every so often, something goes amiss.

Stay safe and warm, and keep away from that nasty cold melty white stuff we here are being contaminated with currently,
Thomas

PS: Mr. SDEF, I'm glad that you weren't hurt worse when whiplashed by that sapling, they can be deadly. We have been making it our practice to trim back any and all limbs or trees that could possibly encroach on our ROPS when we're cruising around or mowing. A side benefit is that the lawn and edges of our wooded areas are now wide open to viewing of deer and other wildlife, and we burn the reasonably sized ones for heat.

PPS: Our ROBB got christened when my my wife coincidentally christened the new pole barn with it, creasing a corner panel before it even got doors on it. The ROBB sustained zero damage, but it cost $67.00 for a new panel installed.

Building a stone wall with the excavator, watching that the tracks didn't climb up onto my lawn and make a mess when I heard a crunch - it was the bucket running into the house.

I was driving down my driveway and forgot to put it in 4WD. I stopped halfway down, put the parking brake on. I jumped off the tractor to get something and that's when I noticed the tractor slowly sliding down the driveway. The rear wheels were locked up and sliding on the pavement. I jumped back on the tractor, lowered the bucket, and dropped it into 4WD and got it stopped, so no harm no foul, but it was close. (Driveway is over 70% down grade in spots). I always make sure I'm in 4WD now when going the driveway.

Great minds think, or at least fix/jury-rig alike. My repair for the tent pole = exact same as yours...

I've a couple gouges in garage doors or sides of doors before I learned not to maneuver while in the doorways.

I damaged my tires slightly (just rub marks) when I didn't tighten the turnbuckles enough. Broke both turnbuckle attachments (singly, not at same time) by not tightening them enough on the 4010.

I hope you mean 70% of the length is a down grade and not a 70% slope! Otherwise, *HOLY CRAP* !!!

70% = 35deg
