10 years ago i fenced my 10 acres with a post hole digger. No way I am going that route again !!
I will be fencing an acre for goats/sheep. Maybe 30 holes or so total. Possibly less if I use T posts rather than wood.
I have 2 choices;
1. Rent a 2 man hand held gas auger for 100 a day. Looks simple to use and with 2 people no problem getting centered and digging straight hole.
2. Rent a PTO auger for $150 a day. Looks a bit unwieldy and maybe overkill for so few holes. i could have used this 10 years ago for my 150 plus holes!
Any experience with the PTO auger? Is it hard to line up and get a straight hole or for so few holes save $50 and go the 2 man hand held route.
BTW: The hand held is not all that heavy and weight only comes into play as we walk from hole to hole.
Appreciate any experience you care to share
