Well, with 460 hours on it, my DK45S is in the shop for a second shuttle shift repair. I'm fairly disappointed. I work it hard, doing loader work and pulling ground engagement implements for farming, but I would think it should hold up to these tasks. After all, it's not a lawnmower.

Fortunately, it's still under warranty, but how long will the SS fix last? Has anyone else had problems with their SS with such low hours?

While the tractor is split, I'm having them replace the clutch for the parts cost. That also was worn a bit more than I suspected. Might as well.

Deputy, long time no post.

When you say shuttle shift, do you mean the shuttle shift transfer case has let go? What exactly is breaking?

That is something that should be nearly indestructible.

Apparently it was the synchros and such.

is it breaking during a certain use or task? Or just plain ole wore out?

It's popping out into neutral. Started in road gear and quickly degraded to affect 2nd and then 1st. I couldn't even pull a tedder with it.

So you're talking about the range gears then? High Med. Low?

In talking with a Kioti rep he said the new DS4110 & DS4510 economy tranctors use the same transmission that was (is?) used in the DK series but the synchros were removed and it's not marketed as a synchro-trans because they have seen some problems with the synchros on the DKs.

It's not an ideal solution, but have you considered not changing gears on the fly? It might be the solution at least once you are out of your warranty period.

Is it the forward reverse shuttle that is popping into neutral?

That reverser gearbox should be supper simple stuff

I'd have to think on it a bit but would think if it is popping into neutral from both forward and reverse then must be something fairly simple in there going wrong

Thanks for the info Joel. The local dealer i took it to said that, despite the fact that it is supposed to work while rolling, that one should stop before using it. That farts on it's usefulness a tad. It was ocurring in forward only, in high range. That was enough failure for me to take it in - I didn't even bother trying medium and low. The less metal flinging around in there, the better.

Last year, my DK45SC shuttle reverser lever wouldn't stay in gear, especially in reverse (eg blowing snow) and a shift fork(?) was replaced under warrantee. I almost never shift from forward to reverse (or vice versa) while still rolling. Lately (at just over 400hrs) I've noticed a bit more gear grinding than usual when shifting gears in high range...I hope this doesn't foretell a coming problem.
