Joel,

As I also own a 2615 and am also 6'+ (6' 1", actually), you've piqued my interest with your stated modifications. If possible, could you explain in a little more detail how you modified the shifter and gas tank?

Thanks,

BR

No Problem-
1) shifter- remove rubber shift nob- with sawzall cut at where the shifter bends ( you can use the shift nob to give you an idea of how it will fit) pushshift nob back on
Note: the nob will be close while in 2nd gear- yet still works very good without any problems- The position is so natural it's not funny + no more catching the shifter on your shorts/pants.
The cutting of the shift handle is the hardest part of the 3 step process-as it moves around alot- 2 people make this job easier.

2) seat: bend the "stop" tabs with a long screw driver- doesn't have to be much- still plenty of seat notches -this will allow for acouple inches of adjustment

3)gas tank- I picked up 4- 1" metal spacers (local hardware store) along with 4- (I believe) M8 bolts 45-55mm- Undue the bolts and move back the tank with spacers and rebolt- -----able to do this by yourself
This moves the tank back 1" which then allows the seat to be moved back even more.

Everything works get and makes the clutch so much easier to use without having your knees hit the steering wheel.

Any more questions feel free,
Joel:D

I own a 2810 HST with close to 700 hours on it.....

I agree with what has been said .. The 2810 is a nice heavy tractor but the
FEL doesn't lift very much... You get use to it and learn what it can and can not do.....

The one thing that would take the 10 series tractors out of the running for me , that tractor has not been made under the Mahindra name for a few years and I have to wonder about part availability in 10 years.....

I have had a number of electrcial problems with mine .
Other than that it has been a good tractor...

The 15 series machines have a very good reputation.....

Dave in NH.......

Could not work out deal with Mahindra dealer..got the "I have to speak to my manager" line though. He offered me JD3203 again at similar prices and an extended 5 year warrenty free. nah. Called the other 2 local (50+ miles away) Mahindra dealers and found they are or about to be owned by the same dealer.
Anyways they say if you snooze you loose and I did both. The TC30 is now $1200 more because the August 0% or 1200 cash back program is gone. Even appears Mahindra has cut their 0% programs back a year. Oh well, I may have found the cure for my tractoritis after all. May have a relapse come spring though.

I just sent you a PM explaining some of the September programs.

Am I reading this correctly that there is a combo Deere+Mahindra dealer in New Hampshire or Maine? Now that would be worth the trip to see in person!

Well, son of a gun! I will definitely stop by one or both of their locations on my next trip up to the Arctic Circle! :) This has got to be seen in person. They must have the most confused and conflicted sales force in the entire tractor world. :D

Not really they tend to point you towards a piece of equipment that will make them the most money. They were at the Windsor fair last weekend. Their booth was directly across from th pulling ring. Losts of dust and all that. I found it amazing that their JD and Kubotas on display looked kinda clean and the Mahindras in the front row did not look like they had been cleand since they hit the fairgrounds.

The Union Ham tractor only have about 6 Mahindra units the rest are JD. The Fairfield HAm has only about 5 dusty Mahindra units 32HP and below (they do have quite a few Mahindras in the upper HP range). In the 20 - 38 HP range they have a boat load of Kubotas and JD...guess which ones the "sell" the hardest. Ham in the Lewiston/auburn (LA) is independent of the Union/Fairfield bunch now however, it is rumored Union/Fairfield has bought LA out and take over next January. LA Ham sell Mahindra and Long (don't know about the Long still)... LA sell lots of Mahindra units/year. Got all that...see what you learn at the Maine fairs. Fryburg next.

Well, I assume they make the biggest bucks on the JD's and Kubota's! So naturally, they would keep them looking the best! :)

Frankly, I'm just surprised that corporate JD puts up with this "degrading" of the Lime Green legend with Kubota Orange and... even worse... Mahindra Red.

Kubota probably isn't considered as big a threat to JD since folks with that kind of money can probably buy one of each... ;) ...or at least will not make their decision mainly on price. My sense is that Kubota's and JD's appeal to very different personalities & needs anyway. Mahindra is another matter. They are a very direct threat to JD on comparable machines. Much more tractor for a lot less money is what sold me. I don't think I'm that unique!

Yep! ;) Clear as mud! :D

Regardless of the numbers, it just amazes me that JD, Kubota and Mahindra can peacefully co-exist on the same lot. Forget the buyer confusion and sales staff "conflict-of-interest" issues... what about corporate??? JD corporate cannot be happy about Mahindras... dusty or not... sitting next to Lime Green machines half the size and twice the price!

I don't know if I would put any stock in Fairfield/Union Hammond buying out Fred Hammond in Auburn. Next time I am in there I'll try to comfirm or deny the rumor. Auburn does sell alot of machines. His peices tend to be lower than Fairfield. I believe that has alot to do with overhead. Fred is pretty much a one man show, whereas Fairfield is an out and out Sales dealership. Three to four salesman working at all times, three guys behind the parts counter, at least one person handeling financing. Just like a car dealership only selling tractors.
You are right though they tend not to stock the smaller mahindras. Fred seems to stock a little of everything.

I called earlier and the rumor is true. Fairfield is going to build $500000 building there in Auburn.

Before Fair season Hammond/Union had a larger selection of both Deere and Mahindra.

I wanted to compare a 2415 and a 2615 so made the drive to Auburn to see Fred. Worth the trip but no 2415, very much a one person show, sorry to hear Fairfield is taking him over. Fred is a little bit different and quotes all his prices with tax which makes for some fast revision of those prices in your head.

Did get offered a geared 3215 for the same price as the 2815 hydro but I was in one of my smaller is better moods.
