I'm thinking about purchasing a 54" snowblower and Curtis Cab for a Deere 2720. Any feedback on how either of these perform with the 2720 would be greatly appreciated. I have a very long paved driveway and we receive many 6"-12" snowfalls per year. I tired of piling up snow with my plow and running out of space to put it but I would love to hear from anybody with an honest opinion of what I can expect before making such a large purchase.

Thanks.

Have you considered continuing plowing and hiring someone to come with a snowblower when the piles are too high? I personally use my box blade and FEL to clear my driveway but it is only 100 x 30 and I have a lot of space to pile it up. We get about as much snow as Maine here in south-eastern Quebec and my little MFWD 855 pushes very well. Traction is never a problem so for me it is one less reason to invest into a snowblower.

I had a Simplicity Legacy 2WD with a snowblower before the 855 and with that tractor there was no way that I could have used a plow.

I can't speak for the 2720, but I have a 4110 with a 47" blower and I wouldn't trade it for the world. It has cut my snow removal time from hours to minutes and I don't have to worry about where I am going to put the next snowfall. And we get lots of snow in northern Minnesota!

If you have a long driveway, consider your neck, and get a front mount blower, not a rear mount. I can't even imagine driving backwards to blow snow, it just seems so wrong.

i just bought a 54" 3pt blower for my 2320. had a very similar set up on CT on a 755 and it could have been a 60" blower. never had any issue with clogging or bogging down. There is something to be said about a front mount but for the price and simplicity, driving backwards really isn't that bad, plus you still have the option of using the FEL for the small clean up. works as great ballast for summer FEL work

You leave the snowblower on in the summer? :confused2:

Maybe thats all you have for rear ballast.

Rick,

I've got a 48" front mount on a deere 2210, and wouldn't trade it for the world. It's pricey, but you won't find a better snow removal option for your 2720 then the deere front mount blower. You won't like any snow removal option better for your 2720 than the deere front mount blower.

no, actually haven't put it on since I received the machine, i have loaded tires now, our 755 didn't so it made a nice ballast for those few times a year we did heavier FEL work.
can't see paying for a ballast box when i have this blower of ample ballast for my occasional needs

I have a 54" snow blower for my 2520 and it works great. It makes the job of snow removal an easy and fast task. I have a FEL and a 54" blade...blower is the best. I bought mine used (barely) and the guy kept it waxed, looked almost new. I have both a 2320 and a 2520 and the blower works equally well with either. The driveway to my barn is crushed stone so I use the blade for that. The blower picks up way too many stones and turns them into projectiles.

Rick,
I had the 47" front blower on my 2720 and it was excellent. Did my long up hill driveway in 20 minutes. Very few shear pins over the years even though the drive is gravel. Plowed 4 foot high snow and plowed through the field to get to the barn. Getting ready to go with a 59" front blower for my 3320 after researching all the options it's the best for me. Rear blower? Not after I've used the front blower.

Highly recommended.

I have a 47" blower that I normally use on my X585 however I did borrow a pto shaft from a friend and ran the 47" on my 2720 and it worked very well. It never bogged (I've never bogged it with the 585 either) in the deep stuff. I normally plow the snow to one side of the driveway with the 54" blade then one or two passes with the blower. It's very quick to drop the blade and hook up the blower because of the quick attach.

The hydraulics are very fast and the only thing to make sure of is that you are in float mode with the blower, other wise you're digging in hard! Not great on a gravel drive:D

Nobody has talked about the Curtis Cab yet.

I have one on my 2305 but I can't send pics because I am 1500 miles away from home. Get it. You will think it was worth every penny this winter. Get the heater, defrost fan, fuse panel, and you can leave your big coat, boots, hat and gloves in the house!

I have the Farmking/Buhler 50" rear mount snowblower on my 2520. I have a 600' gravel drive way. It's really not that much of a pain to set it just a couple of inches higher than the drive to not fling the gravel around. I don't mind the rear mount snow blower as I like to keep my FEL on there for pushing piles out of the way and doing a plow job on the sidewalks and such. I can't use a cab as my barn door is only 7' high and cab would not clear but it would be nice on those windy days.
