2600 alternator

I have a 1973 2600, 3 cylinder gas tractor. I'm replacing the alternator and it tractor parts store sold me an alternator they say will fit but the wiring is different. Can someone assist me with the correct wiring?

It’s very possible it could be done and also possible that it just isn’t made for your present wiring. For me, I would return it and pursue the proper alternator. That just doesn’t look as simple as those one wire gm alternator

There's a difference between what will fit and what will work. You need more information on the new alternator identifying connections as well as info on the old one. Or you could make the adapters for a GM one wire alternator.

"make the adapters for a GM one wire alternator." Could you please explain that for me? I've often read about changing to a one wire alternator - but I've never actually done it - and if I ever need to, it would be nice to know how it's done... Thanks Mr. Roadworthy

Wiring aside, the Delco style alternator will not fit in the same brackets as the Motorola you removed. Save yourself the trouble of changing brackets, probably the pulley and belt length as well. Just get the right style alternator. ASSUMING you have confirmed the alternator is bad, and it's not a regulator or wiring issue?

Yea greg you tube is a help. They can’t tell you where to get this stuff. Seems like I always have the unpopular one nobody has or has never heard of. And customer service ends with a few clicks on the computer And that deep ai search don’t solve my searches

Got ya Mike! Sounds exactly like most of my luck! I usually either cannot find what I'm looking for on you tube or use the wrong search questions and spend much time trying to formulate the correct question to search for the item. Then if I have follow up questions - get nowhere!
