Well I'm not looking forward to another cold running tractor this winter. My 2555 runs really cold, last winter the needle on the temp gauge never moved off cold, even after running it for hours. I took it to the dealer and they did some sort of software upgrade and now the gauge will go up the the normal operating temp on the gauge but the engine is still cold and the heater blows cold air.

I seem to remember last winter someone was talking about a flow limiter or some way to get the engine to warm up. Was there ever an actual solution put into production?

That mod might be necessary. I recall seeing that thread. I would definately try the following first. Simple and effective:

In the great white north we just cover the rad with something. Usually cardboard or canvas. I just put the cardboard on my Kioti a few days ago. It has a square hole in the middle (in the middle to balance the cooling fan suction. Just cause my Dad told me that a gazillion years ago). It covers more than 75% of the rad (100% minus the hole).Additionally, engine compartments sometimes get tarped with canvas to more fully enclose the space. Lower-front and sides, usually. This will keep the heat in. I should probably make canvases for the Kioti too. The cardboard is a major improvement, but not quite enough at more than 25-30 below.

Routine. Standard procedure for a Canuck.

Simple. Effective. Inexpensive.

It used to be common, and might still be, to have tractor trailer rigs with covers snapped over the grills. They were designed so you could open a corner or two if it wasn't super frigid out.

I've been looking all over the Internet for a grill cover, winter front, engine wrap, anything to help the engine to warm up.

I tried blocking the radiator last winter and it didn't really help.

What I would really like to find is an insulated wrap around hood and grill cover that has a way to open the grill area as desired what temperatures rise above the lower teens.

You'll likely have to make your own.

Just a thought....check and see if your heater lines have shut off valves, they will put them in so you can shut off heat in the summer. Hopefully a simple fix!

I wonder were the valve would be, any ideas were I should start to look?

Usually under the hood on the lines going to the cab heater
