2440 pto question

I have a JD2440 that has an independent hydraulic pto. What is the advantage (or disadvantage) of this versus a live PTO? All I know about it is that both levers must be engaged for the pto to work.

Advantages: PTO clutch is a wet clutch. Includes a PTO brake. Never disenges when pushing the foot clutch too far.
Disadvange: I sometimes bump mine "off" when changing ranges or gears.
