OK I do think I have figured out the problem.
After switching out the forward and reverse valves I now have ground speed again, Hard to tell but I would figure 90%, ran around the yard twice with the mower cutting and where it's been bogging down it barely bogged but the grass was wet so. I asked around about the new part number and the old and was told if I could find the old go for it so I did from a JD parts store on line. $250.00 compared to $608.00. We'll see.
Before I put the new valve in I will be changing the fluid, filter and cleaning the screen again!
Anyway since I have it all apart I'm going to give it a like new detail which I haven't done in two years. For ten+ yrs old she still looks like new!!!!

IMG_20160910_110252.jpgIMG_20160910_112245.jpgOK All back together and back to normal. The on-line JD Parts store was a scam bait and switch. Two days after putting in the order and paying I received an E-Mail saying the part was no longer available and replaced with the new part for 3x's as much of course. I got a refund and went to the JD store here in SC and he cut me a good deal I guess $489.50 instead of $560.00.
I changed the fluid and filter and cleaned the screen again and was surprised it was still dirty, I guess that's from what I couldn't get out from draining it because it says 3.4 gallons but only took 3 gallons and about a pint.
As far as the part there is a physical difference as you can see but the only difference I could see was the O-Ring was beefy on the new one and the old one it was flat and used up?
I figure before winter sets in I will change the fluid again and clean the screen.
Total was $1127.00 parts only, 300 miles in driving to JD three times, and I figure about hours 10 labor and three driving hours.
Just a few more pictures.

Yes and that was a good price! The JD website has it at $609.51 plus tax. I kind of had to tell the guy how much I spent there and that I traveled there three times from an hour away. The one on the left is the new one.
