2006 JD 2305
Try to make this short but a long story.
LOANED my tractor out and didn't get it back for over a month. It was left outside longer than it's ever been in the 10.5 yrs I've owned it.
Anyhow hydro fan broke and they used in for 30-40 hours with it broke I figure. Fluid is fried to dark brown or black. dampening control is bent, drive shaft bent. Had that fixed and put in new U-joints. to my surprise with 900 hours they were fine but I replaced them anyway since it was apart. Change the fluid, filter and cleaned the screen all nasty. Just did my annual maintenance not long ago and changed the oil, filter, air filter and greased her up. Keep in mind the hydro fluid was just changed last yr as part of the reg maintenance.
After all this the power is at about 60-70%, tried to cut the grass yesterday and it was like pulling teeth from a bear. I've been cutting the same 3.5 acres for 10.5 years and it rarely ever bogs down and it did it all day. Just no power is all. I've been told to do the full throttle in reverse then hit the forward pedal and no change. This thing would spin tires in 4WD but never ever bogged down, now the slightest obstruction it bogs.
I've read where the pressure relief valve could be bad but that's over 600.00? Has anyone ever just taken one apart to see if there was a problem?
Pictures for the weary and I am embarrassed to have let someone borrow it! Never again will it leave my property.
The pile of crud was just what I could reach to pull out on top of the hydro pump by all the linkage. I blow it out or hose it out every few times I use it and spray the linkage with lithium grease and it's worked for me more than 10 years now, others just don't respect things I figure.

Any suggestions would be great!

Trade the unit as fast as you can. You loaned out a tractor and now have a money pit. I am afraid your tractor is ruined, a very expensive lesson to learn. I hope you at least learned to never loan your tractor again.

People will destroy borrowed equipment and then cuss you if you ask them to pay for repairs.

I took the filter off and changed it a few days ago. I took every fuel line off I could and sprayed it out with gumout then air, they were pretty clean. Turned on the petcock and the fuel to the filter flowed just as always. What else would there be to clean?

Another question about JD pricing? I've been looking for part# LVA801209 and understand it's been replaced by LVA 803403. But I can still find the original on line in several places for as little as $250.00. Yet the new number over $600.00.
What's the difference and which do I have in a 2006 2305?

Per the tech manual:
Wheels rotate in one direction only.
a. Forward or reverse relief valve malfunction. Swap forward and reverse relief valves to diagnose and isolate problem.
b. Pedal linkage damaged or broken.
Now to figure the difference in the new part numbers and price.

I don't have good news for you. First, I'm surprised the fan lasted as long as it did. Heat, age, and debris cause them to break. Down here in the heat they don't last but maybe 3 - 4 years.

Looking at the oil on your finger, and the screen filter, there are problems. If if were mine, I'd start dis assembling the transmission to find out what is going out. Long ago I had started a thread on the 2305 we had at work. I remember that the tranny castings were up revved to include a beefier bearing support for one of the shafts. The one at work ended up with a major tranny malfunction and the boss traded it in after it was torn down at the dealership. Ultimately, I believe your problem exists within the tranny.

If you have the model with the later improved tranny casting, you might be able to rebuild it, if not too much internal damage exists.

Upon further reading, you might have a bearing that is failing in the transmission.

I believe the tranny is a Tuff Torq K92. If so, you can get parts directly from TT.
