I have a AGS2160 that is leaking drive fluid out of the rear breather tube when I am mowing.Any ideas what would cause this? The fluid level is normal.

Thanks,John

I have the problem where it is leaking out of the dipstick hole. I just put a expandable marine plug in the dipstick hole but you may want to make sure that the breather is still good.

How do I tell if the breather is good? Should the fluid get that high anyway? the breather is about 8 inches higher than the transaxle.

I have the same tractor but it sounds like you have too much fluid or too much pressure....i am not sure how to test the breather but it may only be a 5 dollar piece it may be worth checking into.

I took the breather out and "checked" it...:D
It's just a plastic fitting with a red cap ,I can blow air in and out of it.
Maybe it's missing a piece???????

When you run it does the fluid leak out right away or is it only when driving?

try driving slowly on a flat surface with the distick out it is an ags right? if it doesnt leak with the dipstick out, you may have too much pressure which i dont know what the cause would be. also hav eyou tried draining the fluid and putting thee correct amount in. it is expensive though. or you can drain the fluid and filter it with a filtering funnel or a screen and some tupperware.

Here's the reply from caub cadet...must be the fluid level was too high.

"The Service Bulletin regards a change in the length of the transmission dipstick. The correct dipstick should measure 3.875" from the end of the dipstick to the bottom of the portion that seats against the housing."
