I bought a 1988 JD 2155 and the High gear got stuck how do I get it freed up?

My guess is tab that's welded to shifter rail has broken off. I've witnessed this a few times over my yrs associated with JD 20-55 series utility tractors. The shift over will require remove to access tab encircled in green. If this is the problem the tab can be rewelded onto shaft. See photo below.

Problem solved and readjust the clutch also, thanks for the help Tx Jim, good to know that other Texans reach out to North East Texas people. Tractor back in commission.
