2018 RAM vent

I purchased a 2018 RAM 2500 truck brand new in 2018. However, for the past year, it has been considered unsafe to drive due to a faulty hydraulic brake control module. This issue is currently under recall….. it has become a useless driveway ornament.
Seriously? On a tractor forum, you’re going to rant about recall on an 8 year old truck, and because of a recall notice, it’s relegated to being a “driveway ornament “, even though you’ve used it for the past 8 years with this issue, and don’t actually have an actual problem?
Sorry if my reaction comes across as cold, but this one strikes me as over sensitive. There’s millions of products with REAL actual failures, not just an unsatisfactory fix for a potential future problem

Seriously ? Where have you been ? There's a lot more things discussed on this tractor forum than tractors. Believe it or not, there's welding discussed, oil discussed, tires discussed, etc,. Just look around, the list goes on and on

So a truck with 14,000 miles that is in perfect shape, can not be traded in (who will pay full value for truck with a known issue, dash lights on, and a dinger going off every 10 seconds) due to a faulty control unit that is recalled is not a problem. No ABS brakes, no stability control, both of which I paid for, will not work. The truck is used for truck stuff, towing heavy trailers, hauling, etc. Having perfectly a prefectly working brake system seems like a good idea to me.
Sure, I can drive it, but if you understand civil law, it creates an issue if you hit someone. Pretty easy for the attorney to start with "So you know the braking unit was faulty and you still drove it, is that correct???"

Also, this is to let others know about issues that are out there so perhaps they don't get burned in the future.

I bought a new GM Silverado one year, not that long ago.
Couple years later, I went right through a busy intersection red light, with my foot to the floor, without hardly slowing. How I was able to avoid the oncoming green light traffic was a miracle.
GM was using junk Chinese common steel on brake lines.
No engineering for rust belt sales.

No recall. Nothing.
They quietly switched to rust resistant materials in subsequent years. Swept under the carpet.
At least The potential Ram brake issue is being acknowledged and a recall issued.

Pet peeve: I need to choose a trim level and then scroll past pages of color schemes and interior options, before I can even see the power train options. I really don't care about color or interior, I shop on power train and capacity only, and then settle for whatever interior and color I find within that criteria.
To get what you really want, have the dealer send you the sales codes. It'll be more reading (much more) but you'll get to see everything available.

It'll also show what's available with what.
6.4L thru 4.10 rear would be awful snappy around town! :ROFLMAO:
Unless you'll never tow anything, I strongly recommend the 4.10s.

Standard instructions were for new Jeep owners to go into the fuse boxes and push in every fuse to make sure they were properly seated. This last year I'm seeing the same complaints on the HD Ram forums. Are you kidding me??? The workers who are putting these together can't even be bothered to properly install fuses?
I'm pretty sure they get the fuse boxes from some supplier with the fuses already installed. Either way, easy enough to check/fix.

What bugs me more is the low fill levels I keep finding in almost all Stellantis vehicle diffs. There's a reason I check fluid levels as soon as a new vehicle comes off the trailer at home.

At that point I install magnetic level plugs, which are checked and cleaned at about 500-1,000 miles when the diffs get new fluid.

.Oh. … and that GM Silverado, where the corroded brake line blew out… was less than 8 years old. It was like only 4 years old.

I would have been tickled pink to have just, an ABS ding, and recall notice in the mail, than no brakes and a pint of brake fluid spraying under my truck

My son had one with the 6.4 L Hemi that developed the 'Hemi tick" at 90K miles. It destroyed it's self from lack of lubrication . A factory defect
Interesting, but probably not a factor for me, anymore. I own a 6.4 already, 10 years old now, and I think I have only 26k miles on it. :ROFLMAO:

My last few trucks all started rusting by 50k miles, and were traded in by 70k miles, so it's unlikely I'll ever even see 90k miles.

My last Chevy Shilverado pickup blew its first brake line around 5 years old, and its second at 9 years, but those were among the cheapest and least-problematic failures I had on that truck. That was the worst truck I ever owned, by a very wide margin, but I doubt it shared much in common with anything GM makes today.

Seriously. An 8 year old heavy duty truck instantly becomes a “driveway ornament” because someone gets a recall notice in the mail?
“The only option is to rent a cheap car”. 🙄
