Guys, 5 o'clock came to early today.

For the 2009 Ranger XP, it has sparked my interest and I am mostly anti-Polaris. The HD seems to have nice expensive features that may be worth it for some.

I scanned through 6 pages of trashing, bashing, repeats, truth stretching and more. I did see mention of JD green. I would like to add a couple of cents.

My experinece with the Ranger comes from pre- '09 models, but I can't imagine it getting worse.

JD XUV vs. Ranger- the ride quality of the Ranger is superior. The Rhino is better yet. For the mud in this area, the XUV gets stuck in tinckked on grass compared to most others, Kubota is the exception.

The XUV has approx 23 or 29 HP?( not sure). It runs 30 MPH. Take one for a spin empty and see what happens on the hills. It cannot maintain 30 unless it's going downhill.

Work wise, I can't say which pulls more or hauls more. But the Polaris rides good, it's quiet, and has the speed to get you there and back. If you want something to work harder, get the HD. Otherwise, get a truck or tractor.

Good Luck!

the only thing that stops my hpx is the clutch enclosure vent and the weight sometimes other than that if it was water tight i could go alot more places. plus the flywheel is open too that thing tends to collect trash sometimes.lol i seen my rhino get stuck in some places where my hpx just passed right through. it all depends on how you hit the rut or hole. but i understand what you mean. the ranger and rhino are better suited for offroad .

Polaris makes a nice UTV. I would say my father's does ride a bit smoother than my XUV. As to traction I cannot speak to whether the XUV falters here with stock tires, but I can say with aftermarket tires my diesel XUV has yet to be stopped by any terrain I have felt comfortable traversing. My perception is that my Gator pulls better than my dad's Polaris, but I agree top end speed, etc. are not its strong suit. I, like others, frequently run in the 5-20 mph range which makes the XUV fine for my usage.

As November and the subsequent deer hunting season(s) are now upon us, all I am looking to haul with my Ranger is the nice buck I'm going to shoot this year! ;)
