2 ton gantry crane

Here’s a handy item for in your shop, a gantry crane. I really use this hard in mowing season. It comes in handy to raise my 84” finish mower to remove the blades for sharpening and also cleaning the underside of the deck.

I built this crane in the winter of 2003. It is 10 ft. under the beam and 12 ft. between the columns. The columns are 4 x 4 x ¼” wall square tubing and the braces are 2 x 2 x ¼" wall square tubing. The beam is a 4" x 8” I-beam and is rated for 4000 lbs.

I have about $300.00 invested and to buy one new it would run you about $850.00 + freight. Since building mine in the winter of 2003, I built 2 more in the summer of 2004 for local farmers.

Thanks for the kind comments. It's a Wesco Industries brand (China made, but nowadays what's not) 1 ton hoist. I think I got it from Global Industries or Northern. The trolley also was purchased at the same time. Both items have worked flawlessly.
