2\" receiver to cat 1 3 pt hitch

I saw one of these in the Northern Tools catalog and have started welding it up. I would like to know of anyone can tell me the appropriate distance between the lift arm pins? I'm guessing that 26" would be OK. Any problems with that? I've made quite a few attachments for a sleeve hitch on the garden tractor, but this is my first project for the 3pt hitch on the JD 2210. It appears that there is some leeway, since the lift arms swing some, but I just wanted to check.

I think 26" is the "standard" size. You can read more about the different hitch categories here.

Or you can click here TractorSmart.com and read all about 3pt hitches. At the bottom of the page are the dimensions for the height between lift pins and top link and the lift arm spread for all categories of hitches.

That site was just what I was looking for, 18" to the top link. Excellent. I plan on putting removable forks on the bottom of this thing too for some light lifting. I'll post a picture when I'm finished if it isnt too embarassing! Thanks again,

Yep.. 26" is good for cat 1.

I've made a few things and originally started out by building off an existing cat 1 drawbar.

A handful of Cat 1 implements litter my backyard. For no apparent good reason, not all conform to the Cat 1 standard dimentions. Building your own 3PH frame to the standard is a good idea, but if the dimentions are a little off, it probably won't make too much difference.

You've got to keep in mind that places like TSC sell 4 'apparently' cat 1 type of implement.

The cat 1 pinned with cat 0 spacings.

The cat 1 pinned X series of implements for the SCUT like BX tractors..

The true cat 1 spaced and pinned.

And the cat2 spaced but cat 1 pinned things.. like bale spears.. with the warning that you need a heavy tractor to use it.. etc.

That gives you a huge range of setups. Also.. I've seen lots of things an 'easyhitch' won't work on.. the 3pt spreaders come to mind..

I understand what you are saying. The first thing that came to my mind was just lax/sloppy adherence to the Cat 1 standard.
