Well, hello again, writting from motel in kittery, maine, have somemore news.
While at Martinkas in vermont they ran serial numbers, couldnt quite pin it down as to what exact
year my tractor is. Found serial number pages on line, shows my tractor to be a 1987, not a
1998 that the dealer I purchased it from in granville quoted to me. Never the less, I still love
my little tractor, original one of the swing cylinders on the backhoe spitting out oil, removed,
insided rusted, Reeds hydralics made me new cylinder. Now other side leaking like a sieve.
John Deere wants $651.00 for a new cylinder, and Reeds Hydralics went out of business????
What? Thats a whole nother story, found new place east of albany new york, they will cut off
old barrel attach new barrel and seals for between $100.00 and $150.00 and since, bought new manuals
for #7 backhoe, #52 loader, the tractor itself, and cds also. Still having issues with weak strength
digging with backhoe, and FEL, reading alot of these posts where 855 owners can lift the front of
the tractor off the ground, and also with the backhoe. So will be ordering a gliserine filled pressure
guage this week for starters. I shouldnt badger my 855 too bad, next door neighbor used it to
dig about 40' or so unearthing his water line just two weeks ago, and said wow, digs like a champ.
Five feet deep for 40' feet, oh, I have a question on the ROPS, does John Deere sell kits to convert
to a folding ROPS? I cant fit my tractor in my garage. If I think of it tomorrow I'll call hudson river jd.,
What about Yammer, the 855 is a yammer I wonder if they make a folding ROPS for me? Another call
I guess....
