1982 Ford Tractor clutch question

Whats the best way to align clutch up when putting the tractor halves back together?

Using an alignment tool.

buy a plastic one or use the chance to change the seal out in a input shaft...

where can I get the tool? We have a big Ford sales and repair place that doesnt have one

Napa or auto zone sells a universal clutch alignment tool, we have several different alignment tools and more times than not do not have the right one and end up using the universal tool. takes a little more care to get everything just right but it has never failed us. You could also have machine shop turn you a tool just take them the pilot bearing and clutch disc tool does not have to have splines just need to fit id of both clutch disc and pilot bearing

On my 1700 I took the shaft out of the transmission and used it as an alignment tool. It was just 4 bolts and a short shaft.
