1966 mule

Thats right I have a 1966 m274 A2 military mule. 4wd 2 wheel steer. I have just recently had it restored and added seat up front and put a rear seat from a 151 mutt jeep on the back. anybody else out there have one? I know it's kinda ugly but it grows on you.

I don't recall ever seeing one of those before, but it looks like it ought to be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Nice restoration job, too. It looks like a new machine.

Thanks guys, it is fun to drive and it really will go just about anywhere. when i have it out i get asked what the heck is that thing.

I just noticed i stated it was 2 wheel steer. as the pictures clearly show it is a 4 wheel steer. it can be changed to 2 wheel steer by pulling a pin and changing the position of the rear steering linkage.

That thing is cool! I like it! You just need a winch! If it were me, before I'd drive around all those stuck rhino's to pull em out of the creek or up the hill, I'd al least make em say uncle first! LMAO

If anyone is interested, here's a website devoted to these military mules. There were several models, 2wd and 4wd with different engines, but the same basic machine... saw a lot of use in Viet Nam.

Jinman, its really not that high off the ground, it is awkward getting in and out of. your feet go in the basket out front so you do have to make one high step to get in. I found the G503.com is Military Vehicles, The WWII Military Jeep, Parts, Olive Drab and All Related Things. site very helpful in learning about mules. my mules restoration progress is documented under the m274 category ,new restoration project in the barn line

we put about 5 hrs on it over the weekend. that old hercules 2cyl ran great. it has been alot of fun
