can anyone tell me approximately what an 18' flatbed utility trailor actually weighs? I had one built and the dealer told me he really did't know but put
down on the title 1800 lbs. does this sound close? seems heavy to me. it is a well built trailo though. thanks

The better the trailer is built, the more it will weigh. Do you have a truck stop nearby with a scale? JC

1800lbs is in the ballpark for a well built 18' (deck space) trailer.

Actually, it may be light. I have a 18' bumper pull rated for 12k and it's closer to #2500. Same exact trailer with lesser tires is rated 10k, and weighs the same. A lot depends on construction. I'd guess the range is 1500 to 3500# all depending on how it is built.

A truck stop scale (or a landscape supply place where they weigh you empty and full) is going to be the best bet to KNOW what it is .

I have a 16' wood deck tandem 3500# axles / 1 dexter brake axle, big-tex trailer with 2 HD ramps... she weighs 1740# according to cat scales..

You should be able to find some scales local. I rented a dump trailer Thursday, and used scales when I bought sand, then at the rock quarry and even at the local landfill where they only charged me for loading compost. JC

I guess that I fell for the spam post (since removed) that brought this post back up to the top. Oops! :ashamed: Looks like a lot of spam posts floating around the entire forum this morning.
I'll have to pay better attention in the future.

Mine is about the same. 18'x82" with spare, winch, and 5' slide in ramps is about 1,400# according to the scales at my truck stop.

Mine is a 7k unit so 5,600# payload.

Is that on the wheels or including the ball weight?

That is the entire trailer. I weighed my F350 first, 7,600#, then went back with the trailer. It was 9,020#. So about 1,400# empty.

Its been weighed numerous times and its always the same every time.

These 1200 and 1400lb trailers do seem kinda light. I would think an axle with tires, springs, and hangers would easily be 300-350lbs each. So 600-700lbs just for axles. Add some HD ramps @ about 100# each and we are knocking on 1000lbs and havent even talked about the deck or frame yet.

HD 6K axle with drums and brakes 130 lbs shipping weight. So id put the 2 axles 4 wheels/tires combo at less than 500lbs total. Ramps on a 1400 trailer arnt 100lb each they likely arnt these

so that would put the pair at 100lbs. after that 300 lbs of decking? and 700lbs of steel? sounds reasonable to me

PJ trailer... known brand name good trailer. 4" C frame car hauler... PJ Trailers - 4" Channel Carhauler (C4) 1720 lbs 16' and 18' 1800 lbs

Id post my 20' equipment trailer but its not really in the same ballpark as normal trailers. its 6 over 6 C channel for frame.
