Recently ordered a 1528 gear drive with FEL, is there any options I should consider on this before I take delivery? Are they good starting in cold weather? Looking forward to my new purchase. It will be replacing a older Kubota.

If you are getting a front end loader, definately get fluid or wheel wieghts for the rear tires. If you live in a cold weather climate, a block heater is always a good idea.

My concern with the loaded tires or wheel weights is I am going to be using this tractor on a rear mount finish mower and don't want any more weight than needed to rut things up. Was thinking about just making a 3pt hitch weight rack for ballast.

Are they hard starting in cold? My Kubota is about impossible to start in cold weather.

Adding wieght on the 3 pt will be just fine, just as long as you use it when using the loader. The tractors are equipped with glow plugs. It never gets much below 10° F here and they start fine. Mnay folks in Canada won't buy a tractor with out a block heater, but it gets to -20º up there very regularly.

Will it handle a 72" finish mower without any problems?

I have a MF 1445. The tractor has sat for at least a week or more out in the cold weather we have been having. We had wind chills to -25F below zero. I went out last week the night before the "big storm" we were going to get to put my blower on. My tractor has glow plugs. I cycled the glow plugs once and she fired right up. I let her smooth out a little and raised the throttle and walked away for awhile to let her warm up. I do not have a block heater on my tractor. I may install one this year just to have it plugged in and keep her warm and fuzzy feeling, . I have had my tractor for almost a year now, I bought it used, I believe its a 2004 or 05, and its never let me down. The best investment I have ever bought.

I killed the battery twice trying to start my GC2310 in an attached unheated garage at about -25C. Original factory oil yet (~16 hrs). Got stuck slipping off the driveway into powdery snow, idled it with the lights on for a long time (digging out.....). Shut it down. Returned next day to start it, wouldn't fire. Booster cables from wife's car: fired right up.

I WILL be installing a block heater, and changing to Amsoil at the 50 hr service.

No rpoblems here in cold weather, I have a 2006 1528gear, you will never have a problem with a 72" finish mower. this little tractor has some great power for its size. just make sure grass is dry, finish mowers don't like it wet stuff.
