1403 tiller

Thats exactly how mine was when i got it, I cut out some 3/8 plate and bolted it on where the current hitch pins are and moved them out about 4 inches. I got a new slip clutch driveshaft from georgia equipment for a good price. tiller works great now . the top link is extended out pretty far though. i ended up getting a longer one from rk.

yes sir, that's what i was kinda going by, thought i had seen it in your post somewhere. I'll get material for side plts., this wkd. and prolly have to cut driveshaft down some, slip clutch, i guess it is. It's like the one on my bush hog and post hole digger, male / female ends. Thanx for all the help folks, will post pix, when everything is in order and running.

Well, i finally got the side plates made and bolted on. Had to cut shaft, about a 1/4" off the tractor side and 13.5" on the tractor side of drive shaft. Went to the garden spot, engaged tiller lowered and took off. Not bad for worn down tines, went over it twice, dug down about 5"-6". One thing i noticed is that, when the pto shaft turns to the right(looking from rear), and the tines(looking at it from the right side), turns CW, towards tractor. Is that correct or not ? I took my 10mm boxed wrench and it went over bolts that holds tines in perfect fit. That means i need the 10mm bolted tines also correct ? Thanx for any comments / help.

Over run Clutch takes care of that problem. Without it stopping and even engaging the clutch will still push the tractor forward until it looses enough inertia so the tractor will finally stop. Make sense ?

Will be looking at new tine soon. Hoye or the one in Al..

Location! Hoye without a doubt for you. Plus Fredricks in Al. is more of a Tractor dealer which they have parts. But Hoye is a parts dealer and without a doubt the best there is. On the Tines Again they both have "but" Shipping would be rather high I'm sure. Al. is close to me and I have local a Fredricks supplied dealer. One of the few.

Makes sense to me, yes sir. Will check Hoyes' soon then, thanx. Cali., i don't know anything about 32 whl. drv., but i do know something about them paddy tires. Heck, them tires make you have to work, and that cuts into my beer drinking time!

I was referring to the tendency of the tiller to push you forward while tilling, so there is little chance of getting stuck - even if you are tilling deep mud.

My guess is your soil can't be as solid as mine in the Ga. clay mix. Here's a pic of what to expect with it RS1400 new Tines. This soil was rock hard but with the new tines and my Bridgestone rice patty tires it went right through it easily 1st pass. This was my mother's garden and only tilled with a Briggs and Stratton 5hp. walk behind. Steve @ Spalding told me what I needed but he didn't have one. Said it would be well worth my while to go to Fredricks and pic. one up. Man was he right!! Only one they had available at that time but they assured me it would work just no rear Wheels. And Did it!!! Grandmaw loved it!! Check this out. 2nd.Yr. owning it First turn of the Season. Buried, Low as it would go in this Pic.. Look at the Exhaust not much Blk. smoke. Almost effortless for the YM2000. ;)

yes sir, gotcha. I set my holes at 4.5" apart on the extention plts., did it make a diff.. And not too much strain on r. hyd.. Another question, is when you add an impliment. Do you snug up the chains on lower lifting arms, or leave some slack? I center whatever attachment is on 3pt., and snug it up. So theres not alot of sway, but not tight enough to break anything if attachment gets in a bind. Just thought some will find this helpful to know. Thanx to all for the insight / knowledge. Happy Trails

Carey, yeah i have no problems pulling. I would say, w/o good tines that two passes got me where i needed to be. As far as getting down far enough. Had to strap a cedar post on for weight. My wifes garden spot is about a 30' x 30' area. But i also, use tiller to knock down humps / mounds around the property, then the bucket. Makes for an easy way to level out yard. Now looking for a small 3pt disk. Don't know what size is best for this size tractor? Thoughts

Well, the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group FOUND the manual for your tiller recently.
main groups.io Group

Sorry it doesn't have a cover page ... yet. We now have over 24 Yanmar tiller manuals from that era.
